Busy time ahead
It's been a busy time of late with NIGAG, with recent events including the presentation by NI Ombudsman, Tom Frawley, and the NUJ/NIGAG event at the NUJ conference.
But even busier times lie ahead!
On Wednesday of next week Minister for Social Development, Margaret Ritchie, will about her role and participate in a Question & Answer session with NIGAG in the Long Gallery, Parliament Buildings.
The event kicks off with coffee and scones, with the Minister's presentation beginning at 10:00am.
More announcements soon....oh and by the way, the NIGAG website has been updated to include the new committee.

Lobbying - where next?
The National Union of Journalists are coming to town...and NIGAG will be helping hacks, pensmiths, sub-editors, feature writers and union reps to consider the hot issues surrounding lobbying.
The event takes place on Thursday, 3rd April, at 4.30 sharp. It's at the Grosvenor House Conference Centre, Glengall Street.
This is the first time the National Union of Journalists has held its Annual Delegate Conference in Belfast. The conference gets underway on the 3rd and runs for three days.
It will be centred on the Europa Hotel, with some 300 journalists from throughout the UK, Ireland, and continental Europe attending.
This sector seminar on Lobbying looks set to be a key feature of the conference, so prompt booking is essential!
The keynote speakers are headed by:
* Professor David Millar from Scotland who will speak about the current All Party Parliamentary Group set up by the Westminster Government to review lobbying practice
* Will Chambre, chairman of NIGAG will give the Northern Ireland prospective
* Tim Jones the chair, will speak about the role of the Public Relations and Information Industrial Committee and
* David Gordon special investigations journalist from the Belfast Telegraph will be offering an insight into recent happenings in Northern
Ireland.
This is an event not to be missed. Entrance is sponsored by NIGAG; there will be drinks and nibbles afterwards, but early booking is essential. The formal proceedings will end at 6.30.
So book a place NOW.

Date for the diary
Tom Frawley, Assembly Ombudsman and Northern Ireland Commissioner for Complaints will be addressing NIGAG members on 2nd April, at the offices of the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People.

Meeting the Ministers
With the new Committee now in post things are continuing apace at NIGAG. The website will be updated in coming days to reflect the new postholders, but already details are up about the programme of NIGAG events in the coming year - featuring (amongst many other items) a schedule allowing members to Meet the Ministers.
First up, on 16th April is a meeting with Minister for Social Development, Margaret Ritchie, followed on May 15th when Peter Robinson, Minister for Finance and Personnel addresses members.

New chief takes up post
NIGAG members gathered at a venue near Stormont last week to elect a new committee, and new chairman. Will Chambré of Chambré Public Affairs took up the chief post after a report from outgoing chair, Breedagh Rogers of the Royal College of Midwives.
Assembly speaker, Will Hay addressed the meeting, where he emphasised the need to improve communications between the public and the assembly...which neatly matches the aims of NIGAG members...in fact some could say that NIGAG members are one of the perfect bridges between civic society and politicians

EGM and Getting to Grips with the Assembly
NIGAG is holding an event on May 17th to help public affairs professionals get to grips with communicating with the new assembly. It's a the Stormont Hotel (and there's even an EGM thrown in to select vacant committee posts).
